It was chilly enough yesterday that I had to turn on my heater, so this episode was accidentally timely!

I apologize for not having a review for last week's episode. I just didn't have that much to say about it. Check out my post on the release of my latest story to see my rating of it. Anyway, the latest episode was basically Hearth's Warming Eve Part 2 with A Christmas Carol.
Gotta say, I'm not too happy with this episode, and that's not something I say often. To me, it smacks of the same old "You'd better celebrate this holiday or you're WRONG" attitude one feels inundated with if one reveals that one doesn't celebrate Christmas.
Then again, it is a play on A Christmas Carol, so it succeeded in that regard.
I couldn't actually bring myself to rewatch Newbie Dash. I caught up on Steven Universe instead. Now there's a show, lemme tell ya. :)
As for this week's episode, Big Jim's tweet about how great it is felt like preemptive ass-covering and set me ill at ease.
I needn't have worried. Dude wasn't lying. :D
AWESOME! SO HYPED!!!!
Can't wait! It's just a preview but I'm already liking it!
Pull up a chair and a mug of cocoa on this chilly...May afternoon and let Twilight tell you the story of a Hearth's Warming Tail!
Another week, Another episode. Today, is our annual musical episode. We've had these episodes as far back as the season 2 finale and while some have been good (like Crusaders of the Lost Mark and Magical Mystery Cure) there are others that have been not so much (Pinkie Pride). I've enjoyed all the songs in the show so far and think Daniel Ingram is a phenomenal songwriter but a couple of these songs just aren't quite my favorite. This is now the third Hearth's Warming episode and it calls back
Season 6, Episode Whatnumberareweonnow?
Spoilers will be here
0:11 It's always nice to see snow.
1:24 "...Goodness sake!" BWHAHA!
(I'd better see some Luna or Celly here)
2:02 Hums theme song to the joyous tune of "Please Don't Be just Another Meh Slice Of Life Episode Like A Lot Of Season Five Was."
It's really quite catchy.
2:42 I'm with Starlight on this one, I don't celebrate things like holidays. Or birthdays. Or weddings.
Spoilers below the cut!
I have commencement tomorrow, and I go to Rutgers. Obama’s the commencement speaker, so I have no idea how early I’ll need to leave ahead of time. As such, this one’s going up a day early. Ahem:
Starlight Glimmer apparently has phasing, which makes sense given her dabbling in chronomancy. This week, she’s phased in, and we’re dipping into the stock plots for a bit of out-of-seasonal cheer.
Well... season six, episode eight, A Hearth's Warming Tail, was a straight retelling of A Christmas Carol that, while pretty well executed (I love you, Luna), missed a HUGE opportunity to engage with the very real existence of people who are lonely or grieving over the holidays, have bad memories associated with Xmas, or otherwise have legitimate reasons not to join in with forced cheer.
Well, this was a lovely episode. More on the story-telling than the interaction, which is an all right approach, and though it would have benefited from extended time for things to be fleshed out, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Even if it's another A Christmas Carol type of episode. Mostly for being a musical episode with quite a bit of feeling and superb animation. I don't have much to say for the moment, though that may change. Regardless, on to the
And the surprise project has launched..... And it's aiming directly for your feels!
This year, I have written my first Hearth's Warming Eve fic and since Season 6 just happened and also because of time reasons, I have decided to pick this one from my Hearth's Warming writing ideas, "The Little Match-Filly".
Ever since I've seen "A Hearth's Warming Tail" in May, I wanted to write a ponified version of H.C. Andersen's story "The Little Match-Girl".
